FridayNightPulse: Vikings' RB Drill for Speed and Agility

๐Ÿ“ Pittsburgh Central Catholic VikingsยทWednesday, July 1, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Pittsburgh Central Catholic Vikings' summer football camp, running backs are honing their skills with a high-intensity drill designed to improve speed and agility. The 'Ladder Weave' drill consists of five sets of 10 reps: 1) Weave through a ladder with each foot, 2) Perform a lateral shuffle through the ladder, 3) Jump over a series of cones, 4) Quickly change direction through a series of small hurdles, and 5) Sprint 10 yards and back. Coaching cues emphasize quick footwork, explosive acceleration, and rapid changes of direction. This drill translates to game performance by enhancing RBs' ability to quickly identify and exploit defensive weaknesses, making them more elusive and effective in the open field.
