FridayNightPulse: CB Clinic Drill for 6A Programs
The 'Shuttle-Press' drill is a crucial exercise for CBs at 6A programs like Harrisburg Cougars. This drill enhances reaction time, agility, and press coverage skills. To execute: set up cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Players start at the first cone, sprint to the second, then immediately press a defender (or a bag) at the third cone. After 3 reps, change direction and repeat. For 3 sets, 3 times a week. Coaching cues: 'Get your head around the defender,' 'Keep your eyes on the quarterback,' and 'Stay low and explosive.' This drill translates to game performance by improving CBs' ability to quickly change direction, stay in phase with receivers, and deliver a strong press at the line. By incorporating the 'Shuttle-Press' drill into their summer training, Harrisburg Cougars' CBs will be better equipped to handle the physical demands of 6A competition.
