Imhotep Charter QBs: Master the 'Quick Release' Drill
As the Imhotep Charter Panthers prepare for the upcoming 5A season, quarterback development is a top priority. One essential drill to improve accuracy and efficiency is the 'Quick Release' exercise. This drill focuses on rapid release of the ball, essential for beating defenders and completing passes under pressure. To execute: Set up 3-4 cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. QBs start at the first cone, focus on a target (e.g., a teammate or coach), and release the ball as quickly as possible. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Coaching cues: 'Snap, set, release' and 'Focus on the target, let the ball go.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing QBs to hone their ability to quickly read defenses and deliver the ball to receivers in tight windows.
