Speed and Agility for 6A CBs: The 'Shuttle-Hop' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Harrisburg CougarsยทMonday, July 6, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For cornerbacks at 6A programs like Harrisburg Cougars, speed and agility are crucial for keeping up with the fastest receivers. The 'Shuttle-Hop' drill is a great way to improve these skills. Set up two cones 10 yards apart, with a third cone 5 yards behind the second cone. Players start at the first cone, then sprint to the second cone, plant their outside foot, and immediately hop over the third cone. They then sprint back to the first cone. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include keeping the outside foot 'sticky' to the ground and exploding upward with the hop. This drill translates to game performance by improving a CB's ability to quickly close gaps and change direction on the field.
