Building the Brick Wall: A Pre-Season OL Drill for Coatesville Red Raiders
As the Coatesville Red Raiders prepare for another competitive 6A season, their OL unit is focusing on building strength and cohesion through a series of intense drills. One key exercise is the 'Brick Wall' drill, designed to improve pass protection and run blocking. Players will line up in a 3-point stance, with their feet shoulder-width apart and hands on the ground. On the coach's signal, they will explosively drive their feet into the ground, generating power to push a pad or sled forward. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'Drive your feet!' and 'Keep your hands inside!' This drill translates to game performance by teaching OL players to generate power from their lower body and maintain control in the trenches.
