FridayNightPulse: Tight End Training Tip for 5A Programs
This summer, 5A tight end prospects can elevate their game with the 'Box-Out and Release' drill. Designed to improve their ability to seal the edge and create separation, this drill is essential for tight ends at programs like Pittsburgh Central Catholic Vikings. To execute the drill: Set up four cones in a box formation, with the tight end starting at the top of the box. On the whistle, the tight end must box out a defender with their inside shoulder, then release to the outside, running a 5-yard route. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'box out, release, and run' and 'seal the edge, don't get caught.' By mastering this drill, tight ends will improve their ability to create space and secure crucial receptions in key situations.
