Hawk's Eye: Kicking Drill for 6A Programs

๐Ÿ“ St. Joseph's Prep HawksยทTuesday, July 21, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At St. Joseph's Prep, our kicking coach emphasizes the importance of precision and power in the kicking game. To improve our kickers' accuracy and distance, we're implementing a new drill this summer. The 'Target Toss' drill involves setting up three targets at varying distances (30, 40, and 50 yards). Players will stand 5 yards behind the first target and toss the ball, aiming for the center. They'll complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include: 'Step into the ball,' 'Follow through,' and 'Keep your eyes on the target.' This drill translates to game performance by improving kickers' ability to adjust to different distances and angles. By practicing under pressure, our kickers will be better equipped to make clutch kicks down the stretch.
