Hawk's Den: 6A RBs Get Ready for Gridiron with the 'Hawk Shuffle Drill'

๐Ÿ“ St. Joseph's Prep HawksยทWednesday, July 22, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At St. Joseph's Prep, we're putting our running backs through the 'Hawk Shuffle Drill' to improve their lateral quickness and vision. This drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then shuffle 5 yards to their left, plant their outside foot, and pivot 180 degrees to their right. They must maintain a low center of gravity and keep their eyes up, scanning the field for defenders. Coaching cues include 'Shuffle, Plant, Pivot!' and 'Keep your eyes up, RB!' This drill translates to game performance by improving our RBs' ability to change direction and read blocks in space. It's a game-changer for our 6A program.
