FridayNightPulse: 'Cougars' Cornerbacks Get Ready for the Gridiron
Summer is in full swing, and the Harrisburg Cougars' cornerbacks are putting in the work to dominate on the 6A level. To improve their reaction time and foot quickness, Coach Thompson is implementing a 'Shuttle to the Ball' drill. Set up four cones in a square formation, with one cone in the center. Players start at one corner of the square, then react to a coach's whistle by sprinting to the center cone, then back to their original corner. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cue: 'Get your feet moving, eyes on the prize!' This drill translates to game performance by allowing cornerbacks to quickly close the gap on receivers and make plays on the ball. It's a must-have for any 6A program looking to make a deep playoff run.
