Rams WRs Get Ready for Fall with the 'Route Runner' Drill

๐Ÿ“ La Salle Academy RamsยทSaturday, July 4, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At La Salle Academy, Rams wide receivers are gearing up for the fall season with a high-intensity drill designed to improve their route-running skills. The 'Route Runner' drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively sprint 10 yards downfield before quickly changing direction to run a 5-yard out route. As they reach the turn point, coaches yell 'Change!' and players must immediately shift into a 5-yard in route. The key coaching cue is to emphasize 'quick feet' and 'agility,' focusing on rapid acceleration and deceleration. This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to quickly read defenses and create separation from coverage. By mastering this drill, Rams WRs will be ready to take on the best of Rhode Island this fall.
