Sprint Back to the Ball: A Tollgate Titans Training Tip
Tollgate Titans defensive backs, take note: this drill is designed to improve your reaction time and explosiveness on the field. Set up four cones in a zigzag pattern, 5 yards apart. Start at the first cone and sprint to the second, then immediately change direction and sprint back to the first cone. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues: 'Fast feet, fast hands' and 'Change of direction, change of speed.' This drill translates to game performance by simulating the quick reactions required to cover receivers in man-to-man coverage. It also builds the explosive power needed to close gaps and make tackles. By incorporating this drill into your summer training, you'll be better equipped to handle the speed and agility of opposing offenses come game time.
