FridayNightPulse: Tight End Training Tip for La Salle Academy Rams
La Salle Academy Rams tight end coach is putting his players through a crucial drill this summer to prepare them for the upcoming season. The 'Route Box' drill is designed to improve the TEs' ability to quickly change direction and find open spaces on the field. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with each set focused on a different aspect of route running. Set 1: Players start in a 3-point stance, then quickly move to a 5-yard cone, back to the start, and finally to a 5-yard cone on the opposite side. Coaching cue: 'Fast feet, quick hands.' Set 2: Players start in a 3-point stance, then sprint to a 5-yard cone, and immediately change direction to a 5-yard cone on the opposite side. Coaching cue: 'Stay low, explode out.' Set 3: Players start in a 3-point stance, then quickly move to a 5-yard cone, back to the start, and finally to a 5-yard cone on the opposite side while maintaining a high level of speed. Coaching cue: 'Finish strong, keep speed.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing TEs to quickly adjust to changing defensive schemes and find open spaces on the field.
