FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Power Positioning for OL Dominance

At Div II programs like North Kingstown Skippers, the key to OL success lies in power positioning. To develop this crucial skill, we recommend the 'Box Drill'. Set up a series of 5x5 boxes with varying heights and distances. OL players will start in a 3-point stance, then explosively jump onto the box, landing softly on the balls of their feet. They must immediately transition into a powerful drive block, maintaining proper footwork and body positioning. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 60 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'explosive jump', 'soft landing', and 'drive through the numbers'. This drill translates to game performance by improving OL's ability to quickly change direction and generate power at the point of attack.
