Coventry's Hunter Thomas Commits to Iowa State
Coventry High School quarterback Hunter Thomas, a Class of 2027 prospect, has committed to Iowa State University. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound signal-caller chose the Cyclones over other Power Five offers from Nebraska and Purdue. Thomas, who has been a standout in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League's Division II, is expected to compete for a backup role in Iowa State's Air Raid offense. The program's emphasis on quarterback development and its strong academic reputation were major factors in Thomas' decision. The Coventry Oakers' quarterback threw for 2,500 yards and 25 touchdowns as a sophomore, showcasing his ability to excel in the Air Raid system. Thomas' commitment marks the first for Coventry in the Class of 2027. He joins a Cyclones' recruiting class that currently ranks 25th in the nation, according to 247Sports.
