Coventry Oakers' Multisport Star Eyes Flag Football Scholarship Opportunities
Coventry High's standout multisport athlete, Emily Wilson, is shifting her focus to flag football as she explores college scholarship possibilities. With the inaugural NCAA Division 1 flag football season set for 2028, Wilson is targeting Power 4 programs like the University of Nebraska, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers. The Cornhuskers are expected to offer up to 12 scholarships for the new sport. Wilson is also considering NAIA programs, including Ottawa University, Kansas, which offers up to 12 scholarships, and Keiser University, Florida, a known recruiter in the sport. Additionally, Midland University, Nebraska, is another NAIA option for Wilson. As UT Arlington's flag football program develops, it may also become a viable option for the Coventry Oakers' star.
