DeShawn Young Commits to SMU
Tollgate Titans defensive end DeShawn Young has committed to play for Southern Methodist University. The Class of 2026 standout chose SMU after considering several Power Five programs. Young, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 240 pounds, is expected to contribute immediately to the Mustangs' defensive line. SMU's 3-4 scheme aligns with Young's skills, and he should see significant playing time as a freshman. The Mustangs' depth chart is expected to be competitive, and Young is eager to be a part of the team. SMU's strong academic program also appealed to Young, who maintains a 3.5 GPA. Young previously held offers from several other schools, including Boston College and UConn, but ultimately chose SMU for its athletic and academic opportunities.
