Finishing the Drill: Building a Stronger Coventry Oakers OL

๐Ÿ“ Coventry OakersยทWednesday, July 29, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Coventry Oakers prepare for the upcoming season, their Division II linemen are focusing on developing the skills necessary to dominate in the trenches. One key drill that has been making a difference in their pre-season training is the 'Finishing Block' drill. The objective of this drill is to improve a lineman's ability to finish a block and maintain positioning. Sets: 3 sets of 10 reps. Reps: Each lineman will start in a 3-point stance, then explosively drive forward, striking the pad with the shoulder, and finishing with their feet shoulder-width apart, maintaining balance. Coaching cues: 'Drive, strike, finish' and 'Feet shoulder-width, hands up.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a lineman's ability to maintain positioning and generate power in the hole. By incorporating this drill into their training, the Coventry Oakers OL is poised for a strong season.
