Darius Martin Commits to Army Football Program
Lakewood Gators safety Darius Martin has committed to the Army Black Knights football program, according to sources close to the recruit. The Class of 2026 standout chose Army over other scholarship offers from several FCS institutions. Martin, a four-year starter for the Gators, believes his skills align with the Black Knights' aggressive defensive scheme, which emphasizes speed and physicality. He also cited the opportunity to contribute immediately to a defense that returns several key players from last season's unit. Additionally, Martin was drawn to Army's academic program, which offers a range of engineering and business majors. He had previously committed to another FCS school but reopened his recruitment in April. Martin is expected to report to West Point in June 2027 to begin his Army career.
