Gaffney Indians WRs: Master the 'Slant and Go' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Gaffney IndiansยทSaturday, July 4, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To improve route running and separation from defenders, Gaffney Indians WRs should focus on the 'Slant and Go' drill. This drill consists of three sets of 10 reps: 1) Start at the line of scrimmage, sprint 5 yards, then quickly cut to a 45-degree angle (slant) for 3 yards; 2) Immediately burst back to top speed and sprint 10 yards downfield (go); 3) Repeat the sequence. Coaching cues include: 'Quick feet, quick cuts' and 'Accelerate through the slant.' This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to create separation and get open quickly. It also enhances their ability to read defenses and adjust their routes accordingly.
