'Wall Drill' Strengthens Dorman Cavaliers OL for 5A Gridiron Battles
As the Dorman Cavaliers prepare for their 5A showdowns, their offensive line coach has devised a crucial drill to fortify their blocking prowess. The 'Wall Drill' targets the linemen's ability to anchor and drive against a relentless pass rush. To execute this drill, set up a series of 3-foot tall cones in a staggered formation, mimicking the depth of a defensive line. OL players will pair up and stand back-to-back, with their feet shoulder-width apart. On the whistle, they'll explosively drive into the cones, focusing on maintaining a tight, compact stance. Aim for 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'Drive your feet,' 'Keep your head up,' and 'Anchor your backside.' This drill translates to game performance by enhancing the linemen's ability to absorb contact and generate power at the point of attack.
