Elijah Johnson Commits to Iowa State

Gaffney Indians defensive end Elijah Johnson has committed to play for Iowa State University. Johnson, a 2026 prospect, chose the Cyclones over other Power Five offers. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Johnson is expected to contribute on the edge in Iowa State's 3-4 scheme. He will have the opportunity to fill a depth chart need at defensive end, as the Cyclones lost several key players to graduation. Johnson also cited Iowa State's strong academic program as a major factor in his decision. Johnson had previously committed to another school, but reopened his recruitment in May. He is considered one of the top defensive ends in the SCHSL 4A classification.
