Boosting Kicking Accuracy: The Lakewood Gators' 3-Box Drill

๐Ÿ“ Lakewood GatorsยทSaturday, July 11, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Lakewood Gators' kicking coach has developed a drill to improve the accuracy of their kickers. The 3-Box Drill consists of three targets: a small box (3 feet x 3 feet), a medium box (4 feet x 4 feet), and a large box (5 feet x 5 feet). The kicker starts 10 yards away from the small box and must kick the ball through each box in succession, moving back 5 yards after each successful kick. The coach provides the following cues: 'Step into the ball,' 'Follow through,' and 'Keep your eyes on the target.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the kicker's ability to adjust to different distances and angles. The Gators' kickers will perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 2-minute rest between sets.
