Boosting Kicking Distance with Dutch Fork's 5A Drill

๐Ÿ“ Dutch Fork Silver FoxesยทMonday, July 13, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Dutch Fork High School, the Silver Foxes' special teams coach has a go-to drill to help his kickers build power and accuracy. The 'Kicking Box Drill' targets the muscles used in kicking, improving technique and increasing distance. Players start by standing 10 yards back from a 4x4 foot box. They kick the ball into the box, aiming for the center. After 3 sets of 10 reps, they move to 15 yards back and repeat. Coaching cues include 'snap the laces' and 'follow through.' This drill translates to game performance by strengthening the muscles used in kicking and improving technique under pressure. By incorporating this drill into their pre-season training, kickers can expect to see increased distance and accuracy on their kicks.
