Lakewood Gators Break Ground on $3M Facility Upgrade
The Lakewood Gators, a 4A program from Sumter, South Carolina, marked a major milestone as they broke ground on a $3 million facility upgrade. The project, set to be completed by the start of the season, will feature a renovated weight room, updated locker rooms and a state-of-the-art video analysis room. The upgrade is expected to give the Gators a significant recruiting edge, particularly in the state's top talent-rich regions. The Gators have been on the rise, posting a 7-4 record last season and making the playoffs for the third consecutive year. With the new facilities, head coach John Smith believes the team will be better equipped to compete with the state's top programs, including 2024 4A state finalist, Conway High School. The Gators are looking to make a deep run in the playoffs this season.
