Hunter Johnson Commits to Texas Tech

๐Ÿ“ South Pointe StallionsยทTuesday, July 28, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

South Pointe Stallions quarterback Hunter Johnson has committed to play for Texas Tech, the school announced Thursday. Johnson, a Class of 2026 prospect, chose the Red Raiders after considering multiple Division I offers. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound signal-caller cited the team's spread offense, which aligns with his skillset, as a major factor in his decision. Johnson also noted the opportunity to compete for playing time immediately, as the Red Raiders' quarterback depth chart is expected to be wide open. Additionally, Johnson praised Texas Tech's academic program, which he believes will provide him with the resources necessary to succeed both on and off the field. Johnson previously committed to another program but decommitted in April to explore other options. He is considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the state of South Carolina for the Class of 2026.
