Slinging it Right: The Dorman Cavaliers' 5A QB Drill

๐Ÿ“ Dorman CavaliersยทWednesday, July 29, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Quarterbacks at top 5A programs like the Dorman Cavaliers are constantly working on their accuracy and velocity. One effective drill to improve these skills is the 'Speed and Accuracy Sling'.

Sets: 3 sets of 10 reps each.

Equipment: Quarterback, wide receiver, and a target 10 yards downfield.

Setup: The QB starts 5 yards behind the target, with the WR 10 yards downfield. The QB must release the ball within 2 seconds of the snap.

Coaching cues: 'Quick release, eyes on the target, follow through.'

Why it translates: This drill simulates game situations where QBs must release the ball quickly and accurately under pressure. By focusing on a quick release and follow-through, QBs can improve their velocity and accuracy, leading to more completions and touchdowns on Friday nights.
