Unlocking Tight End Potential: The 'Rabbit Ears' Drill
At Tea Area Titans, our 11A program is focused on developing versatile tight ends who can dominate in the passing game and control the line of scrimmage. One key drill that helps us achieve this goal is the 'Rabbit Ears' drill. Here's how it works: Set up two cones 5 yards apart, with a third cone 5 yards behind the second one. The TE starts at the first cone, then sprints to the second cone, planting their outside foot and turning their body to face the third cone. They then sprint to the third cone, repeating the process for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'keep your eyes on the target' and 'drive your feet, not your hands.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to quickly change direction and track the ball in space.
