For defensive end prospects at 11AA programs like Brandon Valley Lynx, developing elite speed and agility is crucial for success on the gridiron. The 'Shuttle-Rush' drill is a game-changing exercise that targets these key areas. Set up a 10-yard shuttle course with two cones at each end. Players will perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. On the whistle, athletes will shuttle through the course, then immediately transition into a 3-step rush, focusing on explosive acceleration and quick change of direction. Coaching cues include 'Fast feet, faster hands' and 'Shuttle, rush, repeat.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a DE's ability to quickly close gaps and disrupt opposing offenses.
