Roosevelt Rough Riders RBs: Master the 'Power Cut' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Roosevelt Rough RidersยทSaturday, July 18, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, RBs at 11AA programs like the Roosevelt Rough Riders can improve their elusiveness and acceleration with the 'Power Cut' drill. Set up cones 5 yards apart in a zig-zag pattern. Start with 3 sets of 10 reps. Begin at the first cone, then cut to the second cone, immediately changing direction to cut back to the first cone. Focus on exploding off the first cut, maintaining top-end speed through the second cut, and quickly changing direction to accelerate back to the first cone. Coaches should emphasize 'drive through the cut' and 'stay low' to maintain balance. This drill translates to game performance by teaching RBs to quickly change direction and accelerate through tight spaces, a crucial skill for 11AA competition.
