Building a Stronger Line: Harrisburg Tigers' OL Drill
As the Harrisburg Tigers prepare for another 11AA season, their coaching staff is putting a focus on building a dominant offensive line. One key drill that's helping to achieve this goal is the 'Rapid Fire' rep series. This high-intensity exercise targets the OL's ability to quickly change direction and generate power in a short amount of time. The drill involves 3 sets of 10 reps, with each rep lasting 10 seconds. Players must start in a 3-point stance, then quickly shift into a 2-point stance and back again, all while maintaining proper footwork and body positioning. Coaching cues include 'quick feet, quick hands' and 'explosive power, not slow and steady.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing OL players to develop the speed and agility needed to block defenders in tight spaces.
