Sizzling Summer Training: WR Drill for DII-AAA Programs
This week, we're focusing on a high-intensity drill to elevate your wide receiver's skills at the DII-AAA level. Introducing the 'Route Runner's Repeat': a 3-part drill designed to improve speed, agility, and route recognition. Set up 3 cones in a zig-zag pattern, 10 yards apart. Have your WRs start at the first cone and perform a 5-yard out route, followed by a 5-yard in route. After completing the routes, they'll sprint back to the starting point and repeat. Complete 3 sets of 5 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Quick feet, sharp cuts!' and 'Read the defender, adjust your route!' This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to quickly change direction and recognize defensive coverage.
