Oakland Patriots Hire New Wide Receivers Coach

The Oakland Patriots, a 6A program from Murfreesboro, have hired former Riverdale assistant coach, Michael Johnson, as their new wide receivers coach. Johnson replaces longtime coach, David Thompson, who departed after last season. The Patriots finished 8-4 in 2025, narrowly missing the playoffs. Johnson's hiring is seen as a coup for the program, which has struggled to find consistency at the wide receiver position. The addition of Johnson, who has a reputation for developing talented receivers, is expected to boost the Patriots' passing game and overall offense. With the TSSAA's new rules governing receiver eligibility, the Patriots will look to capitalize on their upgraded receiving corps in the upcoming season.
