Eagles' Edge: WR Drill for DII-AA Dominance
At Brentwood Academy, our DII-AA Eagles are gearing up for a championship run. One key to their success lies in our 'Route Runner' drill, designed to hone WRs' agility, speed, and route recognition. Here's how to implement it: Set up four cones in a square shape, 5 yards apart. Start with 3 sets of 10 reps. Have the WR begin at one cone, then sprint to the next, making a sharp cut to the next cone, and finally, a quick change of direction to the final cone. Coaching cues: 'Run the route, don't just run the drill.' 'Cut on the toe, not the heel.' 'Keep your eyes up, stay focused.' This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to quickly change direction and accelerate out of breaks. It's a must-have for any DII-AA program looking to elevate their passing game.
