Brentwood Academy Eagles' Tight End Training Tip: 'Box Out' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Brentwood Academy EaglesยทSaturday, July 25, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, DII-AA programs like Brentwood Academy Eagles are focusing on refining tight end skills through a series of dynamic drills. One standout exercise is the 'Box Out' drill, designed to improve blocking technique and footwork. The drill involves setting up four cones in a square formation, with a defender positioned in the center. The tight end must 'box out' the defender, using a combination of footwork and hand placement to seal the edge. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps, focusing on quick feet and explosive power. Coaching cues include 'square up' and 'drive through.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching tight ends to effectively block and seal defenders, creating space for their quarterback and running back. By mastering the 'Box Out' drill, Brentwood Academy Eagles' tight ends will be ready to take on the competition this fall.
