FridayNightPulse: Kicker Prep for 6A Programs

๐Ÿ“ Maryville RebelsยทTuesday, July 28, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Maryville Rebels and other top 6A programs, kickers are constantly working on their technique to ensure accuracy and power. One effective drill to improve kicking form is the 'Ladder Series.' This drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest in between sets. Start by having the kicker stand 5 yards behind the ladder, with their dominant foot forward. They should step into the ladder, focusing on keeping their knee bent and weight transfer. As they move through the ladder, they should maintain a smooth, fluid motion, keeping their eyes on the target. Coaching cues include 'keep your knee bent' and 'transfer your weight.' This drill translates to game performance by improving flexibility, balance, and overall kicking technique. It's essential for kickers to incorporate this drill into their pre-season training to build confidence and accuracy.
