Maryville Rebels Promote Assistant Coach to Coordinator Role
Maryville Rebels head coach, Derek Moore, announced Thursday the promotion of assistant coach, Josh Thompson, to defensive coordinator. Thompson spent five seasons developing the Rebels' defense, which has seen significant improvement over the past three years. The Rebels, classified as 6A, have a recent record of 14-8. With Thompson's promotion, the team is expected to continue its upward trend. Recruiting efforts will focus on bolstering the defensive line, a position of need after the graduation of several key players. The Rebels will face stiff competition in the District 6-6A, which includes powerhouses such as Farragut and Campbell County. Moore believes Thompson's experience and expertise will be crucial in preparing the team for the upcoming season.
