Maryville Rebels' LB Drill: Building Speed and Agility
The Maryville Rebels' linebackers are gearing up for a dominant 6A season, and a key component of their pre-season training is the 'L-Drill.' This high-intensity exercise targets speed, agility, and reaction time. To run the L-Drill, set up 5 cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Start at the first cone, then weave through the course, focusing on quick changes of direction. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'stay low,' 'keep your eyes up,' and 'drive through the cone.' This drill translates to game performance by improving LBs' ability to read and react to plays, making them more effective in pursuit and tackling. By incorporating the L-Drill into their training, the Rebels' LBs will be ready to take on the best of the state.
