To improve RB power and acceleration, Southlake Carroll's coaching staff employs a specific drill. The 'Box Blast' involves 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 2-minute rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively jump onto a 12-inch box, landing softly on the balls of their feet. As they jump off, they immediately take 3-4 explosive steps forward, focusing on quick turnover and aggressive footwork. Coaching cues include 'Box Blast' and 'Quick Turn.' This drill translates to game performance by enhancing RB ability to quickly change direction, accelerate through holes, and maintain top-end speed.
