Kicking Game Boosters: Gunter Tigers' 3-Step Ladder Drill
As a key component of any 3A program's kicking game, Gunter Tigers' kicker needs to be precise and powerful. To improve their accuracy and leg strength, we're introducing the 3-Step Ladder Drill. This drill consists of three 5-yard ladder stations with cones at each step. Kicker starts at the first station, places their foot in the first hole, and kicks a ball through the cones to the next station. They then step into the next hole and repeat the process. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include: 'Keep your eyes on the target', 'Step into the hole with your plant foot', and 'Follow through with your kicking leg'. This drill translates to game performance by improving footwork, balance, and kicking technique under pressure.
