What Coaches Look for on a Junior Day Visit: A TE's Guide

๐Ÿ“ Southlake CarrollยทWednesday, July 1, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

When attending a junior day visit as a tight end prospect, it's essential to demonstrate your skills and show coaches you're a priority recruit. Coaches want to see athleticism, technique and a strong work ethic. At the top of the list is speed. A 4.7 40-yard dash time is a benchmark for top-tier tight ends. To achieve this, focus on building explosive power through plyometric exercises and agility drills. Additionally, work on perfecting your pass-catching skills, such as high-pointing the ball and securing it in traffic. Coaches also value a tight end who can block effectively, so practice your technique in both zone and man-blocking situations. Finally, be prepared to demonstrate your football IQ by answering questions about the game and showing a strong understanding of the offense.
