Gunter Tigers Coach Sees Flag Football as Legit College Pathway

Gunter Tigers head coach Emily Wilson believes flag football provides a legitimate college pathway for her players. With the NCAA's Emerging Sports for Women program adding women's flag football in January, Wilson says her team is taking notice. The University of Nebraska's fully funded D1 varsity program and NAIA programs like Ottawa University, Keiser University and Midland University offer active scholarships. UT Arlington is also developing a Texas D1 program. Wilson emphasizes that athletes must meet specific requirements to access these scholarships, including maintaining high GPAs and excelling on the field. She encourages her players to research and stay in touch with these programs to increase their chances of securing a scholarship.
