Panther Power: Duncanville OL Drill for Dominant Line Play
This summer, Duncanville Panthers OL coach, John Smith, is emphasizing a crucial drill to develop the team's strength and agility. The 'Power Slide' drill targets the OL's ability to generate force and control in the trenches. Set up a 10-yard zone with two cones, 5 yards apart. OL players start in a 3-point stance with their feet shoulder-width apart. On the whistle, they explosively drive their feet into the ground, slide 5 yards to the left, and immediately change direction to slide 5 yards to the right. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Drive your feet, not your hands,' and 'Slide, don't stumble.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the OL's ability to quickly change direction and generate power in tight spaces.
