Malik Thomas Commits to Iowa State
Aledo Bearcats kicker Malik Thomas has committed to play for Iowa State University. The Class of 2026 standout chose the Cyclones over other Power Five offers, citing the team's strong kicking game and depth chart opportunity. Thomas, who averaged 40 yards per punt and made 12 of 15 field goals as a junior, believes Iowa State's scheme will allow him to flourish. The Cyclones' academic program, which offers a range of engineering and business majors, also appealed to Thomas. He initially committed to Baylor in February but reopened his recruitment in May, giving Iowa State a chance to make a strong impression. Thomas is expected to compete for a starting role as a freshman and contribute to the team's special teams unit. His commitment adds to Iowa State's growing list of Texas recruits for the Class of 2026.
