As the inaugural 2028 season of NCAA Division 1 flag football approaches, multisport athletes from the Austin area are taking notice of the growing scholarship opportunities. For Lake Travis Cavaliers' standout athlete, Emily Wilson, the decision to pivot to flag football has become a top priority. With verified scholarship programs at the University of Nebraska, offering up to 12 full-ride scholarships, and Ottawa University, Kansas, a national powerhouse with up to 12 scholarships, Wilson is focusing her recruitment efforts. Additionally, Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, have been actively recruiting flag football talent. Wilson is encouraged to research and reach out to these programs directly to explore her eligibility and potential for a scholarship. As UT Arlington's flag football program develops, Wilson will also keep a close eye on their progress.
