Caleb Young Commits to Iowa State
Westlake Chaparrals cornerback Caleb Young, a Class of 2027 standout, has committed to Iowa State University. Young, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound defensive back, chose the Cyclones over offers from several Power Five programs. Iowa State's 3-3-5 defensive scheme, which emphasizes man-to-man coverage, aligns with Young's skills and playing style. The Cyclones' cornerback depth chart is expected to be competitive, but Young's athleticism and technique could earn him significant playing time as a freshman. Additionally, Iowa State's academic programs in kinesiology and sports management will provide Young with a strong foundation for his future career. Young previously held a commitment to the University of Texas before decommitting in April. He has been a key contributor to the Chaparrals' secondary, recording 30 tackles and four interceptions in his sophomore season.
