Austin Thomas Commits to Houston Cougars

Katy Tigers linebacker Austin Thomas has committed to the University of Houston Cougars for the 2026-2027 academic year. The Class of 2026 standout chose the Cougars over other top offers, citing the team's 3-4 defensive scheme as a key factor in his decision. Thomas believes he will have an opportunity to contribute immediately, potentially filling a void at outside linebacker. Academically, Thomas was drawn to Houston's strong business program, which aligns with his post-graduation goals. Thomas previously held a commitment to the University of Texas at El Paso, but decommitted in May to explore other options. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Thomas was a key component of the Tigers' defense last season, recording 75 tackles and 5 sacks.
