Katy Tigers' OL Coach Reveals Insider Drill for Dominating in the Trenches

๐Ÿ“ Katy TigersยทThursday, July 16, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Katy Tigers' 6A powerhouse program is known for its stout offensive line, and it all starts with a key drill that focuses on footwork and hand placement. The 'Tiger Trap' drill is a staple of the Tigers' summer camp, and it's designed to improve OL players' ability to quickly get into position and secure blocks. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with players starting in a 3-point stance and quickly moving to a 4-point stance, focusing on keeping their hands inside their shoulders and their elbows at a 90-degree angle. Coach's cue: 'Trap the defender, don't just block them.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing OL players to quickly adapt to different defensive schemes and secure blocks in tight spaces.
