Agile LB Drills for Allen Eagles: Improving Speed and Agility

For 6A programs like the Allen Eagles, linebackers need to be agile, quick, and explosive on the field. One effective drill to improve these skills is the 'Ladder Shuffle with Carioca Drill.' Set up a ladder on the field and have the LBs perform the following sequence: 3 sets of 10 reps of ladder shuffles, followed by 3 sets of 10 reps of carioca drills (step-over, step-back, step-together). Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the LBs' ability to change direction quickly and stay in front of blockers. It also enhances their agility and speed, allowing them to cover more ground and make tackles in space.
