Elevate Your Endurance: The DeSoto Eagles' S-Coverage Shuttle Drill

๐Ÿ“ DeSoto EaglesยทFriday, July 31, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At the 6A level, Special Teams units are often the difference-makers in high-stakes games. To dominate in the return game, DeSoto Eagles' coaches have developed a shuttle drill that targets the speed, agility, and endurance of their S-players. The drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Players start at the 20-yard line, sprint to the 10-yard line, then immediately change direction and shuttle back to the 20-yard line. Coaching cues emphasize explosive acceleration, quick footwork, and controlled deceleration. This drill translates to game performance by replicating the high-intensity, back-and-forth action that S-players face on kickoff returns. By improving their endurance and agility, DeSoto's S-players will be better equipped to make game-changing plays in the return game.
