FridayNightPulse: Lone Peak Knights Linebacker Drill
This summer, 6A programs like Lone Peak Knights are focusing on developing their linebackers' speed, agility, and tackling ability. One key drill to incorporate into your training regimen is the 'Lateral Shuffle Tackle' drill. Set up cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Have your linebackers start at the first cone and perform a lateral shuffle to the next cone, then immediately transition into a tackling stance. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues: 'Keep your feet light, stay low, and explode into the tackle.' This drill translates to game performance by improving your linebackers' ability to quickly close gaps and make tackles in space. It also enhances their agility and reaction time, making them more effective in pass coverage and pursuit.
